A 19-year-old baby-sitter and a 5-year-old child in her care were struck and injured by a car while walking through a shopping center parking lot in Holbrook on Tuesday afternoon, Suffolk police said.
Two other children in the woman's care were uninjured.
Police said the accident occurred at 4:55 p.m. at the Sun Vet Mall on Sunrise Highway.
The baby-sitter and child, neither of whom was identified by police, sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Both were transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue for treatment.
Police said the woman and the three children, two boys and a girl ages 5 to 11, were walking to their car when two of them were struck by a 1997 Ford Taurus driven by Marianne Stemmler, 57, of Blue Point. Stemmler was not injured or charged.
