Bay constables saved a fisherman who’d fallen off a jetty at Shinnecock Inlet Monday.

Southampton Town police said the incident took place on the west jetty at the inlet at 9:10 a.m.

Robert Biangazza, 56, of Ronkonkoma, was fishing on the jetty when he slipped and fell on the rocks while casting his line, police said.

Biangazza was able to cling to the jetty, the lower half of his body in the cold water, as another man, Carl Rohn, of Hampton Bays, helped hold him in place, police said.

Southampton bay constables Al Tuzzolo and Alfred Greenwald were able to secure and then rescue Biangazza, using a safety line. Biangazza was treated for minor cuts and bruises by a crew from Hampton Bays Volunteer Ambulance. He was later released, police said.
