A Bay Shore man was seriously injured after being hit by a car in Brentwood on Friday evening, Suffolk County police said.

“The pedestrian was crossing Fifth Avenue . . . against the traffic light, and he was struck by a car going northbound,” a police spokeswoman said.

The man was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, police said.

The driver remained at the scene of the accident, which occurred shortly before 8 p.m., police said.
