Islip Town Hall was evacuated for less than an hour Wednesday morning after a 911 caller said there was a bomb in the building, police and a town spokesman said.

Suffolk County police said the 911 call was received just after 11 a.m. and the building was evacuated by 11:22 a.m.

A K-9 unit, as well as Emergency Service Unit officers and Arson / Bomb Squad detectives searched the building, but no suspicious items were found, police said.

A town spokesman said the evacuation lasted less than an hour and employees returned to the building soon after it was secured by police.

This is the third bomb threat made to Islip Town Hall, at 655 Main St., in the last six months, the spokesman said.
