Police: Driver escapes injury when car hits pole in Center Moriches

A woman escaped injury when she crashed her car into a utility pole late Friday morning in Center Moriches, police said.
The woman, who was not identified, drove a Ford Taurus into the pole on Moriches Middle Island Road at about 11 a.m., Suffolk County police said.
All lanes of the road were closed for a few hours after the accident, police said.
Images from the scene show firefighters putting out a fire and the pole leaning out over the street.
Police said the woman was not injured.
