A Center Moriches man stopped on suspicion of speeding Tuesday on Sunrise Highway in Southampton faces charges of impaired driving and possession of marijuana, State Police said.

After Joseph Sasala, 19, of 225 Brookfield Ave., was stopped near Exit 63 at about 9:45 p.m. in a black Chevrolet Impala, a trooper noticed an odor of marijuana coming from the driver and car, a report said.

Sasala told police he had just smoked marijuana, and the trooper found about .08 ounces of marijuana in a bag in Sasala's pocket, the report said.

Sasala failed sobriety tests and was arrested, police said.

He is charged with DWI drugs, unlawful possession of marijuana and traffic violations and is scheduled to appear in Town of Southampton Court on Jan. 10, the report said.
