Police: Centereach man charged with DWI after crashing into house

A Centereach man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed his 2002 Ford Mustang through the front wall and living room of a home Saturday morning, Suffolk County police said.

Nicholas Kohler, 27, was arrested shortly before 6 a.m. after police responded to a home on Michael Court in Centereach.

Kohler was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital where he is being treated for minor injuries, authorities said.

The home was occupied, but no one was injured, police said.

A Town of Brookhaven building inspector is assessing the damage to the home.
