Police charge man with DWI in Kings Park
A Commack man whose vehicle struck a snowbank and rolled over Friday morning on the Sunken Meadow Parkway in Kings Park has been arrested on a drunken driving charge, State Police said.
After a trooper was sent to an accident scene on the northbound parkway at Pulaski Road, he found a vehicle that had rolled over, according to a report.
The trooper interviewed the driver, who told him that he had lost control after hitting black ice.
The trooper noticed that the driver, Todd Merritt, 40, of 11 Ashlon Lane, smelled of alcohol. Merritt failed sobriety tests and was arrested, the report said.
He registered .15 percent on a breath-analyzer test and is charged with driving while intoxicated and several traffic violations, police said.
Arraignment information was not immediately available.
