A Hampton Bays woman was arrested Tuesday after police said officers found her driving a car that did not have an ignition interlock device, as required by a restriction on her driver's license.

The woman's license had also been revoked after the restriction was placed on her license, police said.

Southampton Town police said Dawn M. Christian, 46, was arrested following a traffic stop initiated when officers spotted her failing to signal - and then back up onto East Montauk Highway in Hampton Bays.

The incident took place at about 5 p.m. near the intersection of Bittersweet Square.

Police did not say why Christian had been ordered to have an ignition interlock placed on her vehicle or if such a device had been removed from the 2005 Volvo she was driving when stopped on Tuesday.

They also did not say what later caused the revocation.

She was charged with second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without an ignition interlock device, failure to signal, unsafe backing and unlicensed operator. Arraignment details were not available.
