Suffolk County police are investigating a single-car accident near Stony Brook University Hospital that killed a Coram man early Thursday.

Stanley Zinger, 62, died after the 2005 Toyota Camry he was driving left the roadway north on Nicolls Road, struck a guardrail and then hit trees at about 7 a.m., police said.

Zinger was taken to Stony Brook, where he pronounced dead a short time later, police said.

Detectives said Zinger may have had a medical emergency but are seeking more information.

Anyone who might have witnessed the crash is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
