A driver flipped her car in North Lindenhurst on Tuesday night after striking a utility pole.

Suffolk County police said the woman, 59, had "serious personal injury" after hitting the pole at Straight Path and Laurel Road at about 8 p.m.

The woman "experienced a medical event," causing her 2009 Volvo to strike the pole, police said, however, they could not provide more details on the nature of the episode.

She was taken to a nearby hospital; although serious, her injuries were not life-threatening, police said.
