Suffolk County police said a male motorist, driving southbound on the William Floyd Parkway, just north of Longwood Road in Ridge, was killed when his car left the road and crashed into trees at about 6:23 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015. Credit: James Carbone

A motorist was killed Saturday morning in Ridge when his car left the road and struck several trees, Suffolk police said.

The crash occurred at 6:23 a.m. as the male motorist was driving a four-door sedan southbound on the William Floyd Parkway, just north of Longwood Road.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver's identity has not been released pending notification of next of kin, police said.

The vehicle was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
