A driver lost control of a Chevrolet Suburban on Bergen Avenue in West Babylon early Friday and ended up in a canal, Suffolk County police said.

Neither the driver nor a passenger were seriously injured in the crash, which occurred at 2:11 a.m. Police said the two were being treated at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip.

Police have not released the identities of either occupant.

Police said that after the driver lost control, he crashed into a car parked in a driveway, then careened into the canal. No one inside the home was injured and the home was undamaged, but some lawn decorations were damaged, police said.

Fortunately for the occupants of the Suburban, the water in the canal was just waist-to-chest deep, police said. Police said the cause of the crash has not been determined and said the case remains under investigation.
