Police: Drunk dump truck driver stopped in Commack
State Police have arrested an East Northport dump truck driver for allegedly driving drunk and allowing dirt to blow into traffic on Commack Road in Commack Thursday morning.
A trooper from the commercial vehicle enforcement unit stopped the truck at about 11:40 a.m. because dirt was blowing from the back, police said.
The driver, Harold Parezo, 54, of 187 Clay Pitts Rd., appeared to be intoxicated. He had poor motor coordination and smelled of alcohol, police said.
Parezo produced a breath-analyzer sample of .25 percent, police said. The legal limit is .08 percent.
He is charged with driving while intoxicated, operating an overweight vehicle and operating an unsecured load.
He was scheduled to be arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip.
