Police: Drunken BMW driver tried to flee
A Smithtown woman was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated early Wednesday following a brief pursuit that began in Holtsville, Suffolk police said.
The incident began at 1:30 a.m. on northbound Nichols Road south of Furrows Road, when police said they attempted to stop a white BMW. But the driver, Lucy Ferraro, 24, failed to stop, instead leading officers on a pursuit for four minutes, police said.
Police said Ferraro was finally stopped on Hammond Road near Hawkins Avenue in Centereach, where she was arrested and charged with DWI.
She was scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Central Islip.
