Two men were hospitalized after being injured in an early morning single-vehicle rollover crash on the Sagtikos State Parkway in West Brentwood, police said. (July 12, 2013) Credit: Paul Mazza

The driver in a single-vehicle rollover crash early Friday in West Brentwood that left him and his passenger hospitalized was charged with drunken driving, State Police said.

Edgar Rengifo was going north on the Sagtikos State Parkway when he crashed his Volkswagen just north of the Southern State Parkway at about 2:20 a.m., police said.

The car was on its roof when it came to a stop in the right lane of the Sagtikos by an overpass, police said.

Rengifo, 28, of Central Islip, had a serious leg injury and was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said. His condition was not available Friday.

Rengifo was charged with driving while intoxicated and will be arraigned later, police said.

His passenger, whose name was not immediately available, was taken to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore. His condition was not immediately available.
