An East Hampton woman was drunk when she flipped her Chevrolet pickup in Shirley on Tuesday, injuring herself and her passenger, Suffolk County police said.

Laura Valcich, 21, who was ejected from the truck, was taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue with what police said were non-life-threatening injuries.

Her passenger, a man, 18, also was taken to Brookhaven with minor injuries, police said.

Valcich was driving a 2001 Chevy pickup west on Sunrise Highway near William Floyd Parkway when she drifted off the road, hit guide wires and flipped onto the eastbound center median at about 11:20 p.m., according to police.

The vehicle was not impounded, police said.

Valcich is charged with driving while intoxicated and will be arraigned at a later date, police said.
