Police: Farmingville road reopened after crash

A section of southbound Nicolls Road in Farmingville that was closed as police investigated a serious crash Saturday morning was reopened that afternoon, police said.
The crash occurred at 10 a.m., when a Ford sport utility vehicle overturned as it headed south on Nicolls Road at the Portion Road overpass, a Suffolk County police spokeswoman said.
The driver, a woman whom police did not identify, was airlifted to Stony Brook University Hospital with serious injuries after the crash, police said. Two children in the vehicle were also taken to the same hospital for treatment, police said.
The road was closed while Sixth Squad detectives investigated, police said. It was reopened by 2 p.m.
