Suffolk County police's Computer Crimes Section is working with the FBI on a case that involves the posting of information about Sachem High School East graduates on a website message board.

A police spokeswoman said Wednesday the investigation is ongoing and that a detective on the case also is a member of the FBI Computer Crimes Task Force.

The Sachem Central School District said on its website that confidential information shared on a message board about students from the classes of 2008 and 2012 did not include Social Security numbers and pertains to a "reduced lunch status list from several years ago and the home teaching report from two years ago."

The district posting said it "is continuing to work with the local authorities as well as with the FBI."

The posting also said "the person posting the information is making it clear that they are not posting documents with Social Security numbers, which does appear to be accurate from the investigation thus far."

Anyone with information can email Abuse@Sachem.edu, the district said.
