A 15-year-old girl was shot as she walked down an Amityville street on Saturday evening, Suffolk police said.

The girl, who lives in Amityville, was walking on Bayview Avenue with friends at about 6:55 p.m. when she heard a noise and realized she had been shot, police said.

A friend took the girl, whom police did not identify, to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, where she was treated for the injury, which was not life-threatening.
