Police: Greenport man had marijuana
A Greenport man was arrested after smoking marijuana on Front Street in Greenport on Sunday night, police said.
Wayne E. Rogers, 55, of Greenport, was arrested after Southold Town police officers said they saw him smoking marijuana in a pipe outside the Rhumbline Restaurant at 10:43 p.m. Sunday. He was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana.
Police said officers "smelled an odor" of marijuana outside the restaurant and saw Rogers smoking a pipe. Police said that when Rogers saw them he ran inside the restaurant -- and said the officers found him in the restaurant bathroom.
A pipe containing hashish was them found "smoking in the garbage," police said.
Police said Rogers was released on bail and faces arraignment at a later date.
