Police: Homeless man stole, crashed SUV

A homeless man was arrested for allegedly stealing a sport utility vehicle and crashing it into several parked cars in Lindenhurst, police said. A homeless man was arrested Friday night for allegedly stealing a sport utility vehicle and crashing it into several parked cars in Lindenhurst, police said.
Evgen Kovtun, 28, struck several unoccupied vehicles along North Sixth Street with a stolen Chevy Suburban before 11:30 p.m., Suffolk County police said.
He then overturned the SUV and was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip where he was treated for minor injuries, police said.
He is being charged with driving while intoxicated and third-degree criminal possession of stolen property. He will be arraigned at a later date, police said.
