Police ID pedestrian killed by driver Friday
Suffolk County police detectives are investigating a crash involving a driver with a suspended license who struck and killed a pedestrian Friday night in East Farmingdale.
Kenneth S. Simon, 54, was driving a rented 2011 Hyundai Sonata westbound in the far right lane on Route 109 when his vehicle struck Howard Reich, who was crossing Route 109 east of Route 110, from north to south about 7:20 p.m., police said.
Reich, 55, of Lindenhurst, was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
Simon, of Massapequa Park, was uninjured, police said.
The Hyundai was impounded for a safety check. Simon was issued a summons for driving with a suspended license, according to police.
The reason for his license suspension was not immediately available.
