Police identify man fatally struck by car
Suffolk County police have identified the 35-year-old man killed Friday night when he was hit by a car on West Avenue in Patchogue.
The victim is Victor Morocho of Patchogue, police said in a Saturday news release.
Morocho was taken by ambulance to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue where he was pronounced dead.
Police said he was in the middle of the right southbound lane of West Avenue, south of Main Street, when he was struck by a southbound 2010 Hyundai, driven by Cristina Iorizzo, 18, of Ronkonkoma, at about 9:18 p.m.
No charges were filed against Iorizzo, police said.
Investigating detectives said at least one vehicle was in the left southbound lane about the same time Morocho was hit but the vehicle did not remain at the scene.
Detectives are looking to speak to the driver of that vehicle for additional information, the release said.
Anyone with information on the crash can call the Fifth Squad, 631-854-8552, or Crime Stoppers, 800-220-8477.
A spokesman at the Fifth Precinct Saturday morning said he did not have any more information on the accident.
