Two people found dead in East End swimming pools this week are not believed to have been drowning victims, Southampton Town police said Friday.

Det. Sgt. Randy Hintze said both cases are being investigated and that the medical examiner still has to complete reports in the deaths. Hintze said names are not being released.

On Wednesday, the body of a man, 35, was found in a residential pool in Bridgehampton, police said. That death "does not appear to be suspicious," Hintze said.

On Sunday, a woman's body was found in a pool in Hampton Bays, police said.

In the Bridgehampton death, Hintze said the man was swimming alone at the house. "When family came back, they found him unresponsive in the pool," Hintze said.

Police responded to a call at 2 p.m., and resuscitation efforts were unsuccessful, according to the release. The man was pronounced dead at Southampton Hospital, police said.

In the Hampton Bays case, police said a Southampton woman, 26, was at a party with friends at a house Sunday and was swimming with several people.

After swimming for a time, friends saw the woman floating and unresponsive in the water, police said.

Police said they responded to a 911 call at 2:59 p.m. The woman was taken to Southampton Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
