Police investigate Bay Shore shooting
A young man riding a bike through a Bay Shore Tuesday night was shot after he told two robbers he had no money, Suffolk County police said.
The bike rider, whose name and age was not released, was shot once in the leg. Police said he was transported to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore with “non-life-threatening” injuries.
The shooting occurred at 10:19 p.m. on Redington Street, police said. They said the two assailants, both described as being in their early 20s, stopped the bicyclist, flashed a gun — and demanded cash.
When the cyclist said he had no money, he was shot.
Police are asking anyone with information to contact Third Squad detectives at 631-854-8352 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
