Students, faculty and employees were temporarily evacuated from North Babylon High School Friday morning because of a bomb threat, according to officials from the school district.

Writing on the wall in a bathroom suggested a bomb, a statement from the North Babylon Union Free School District said, and the building was evacuated at about 10:45 a.m. No other details about the message were released.

Police and the bomb squad searched the building for about an hour and 15 minutes, but nothing was found, the district said. In addition, a recorded message was sent to students' families informing them of the evacuation.

Students and employees returned to the building a short time after noon.

A Suffolk County police spokeswoman could only confirm that police were investigating a bomb threat. She had no other information.
