Suffolk County police said they are investigating a single-car crash in Smithtown early Thursday that seriously injured the car's driver.

Cynthia Prag, 22, of Smithtown, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu north on Landing Avenue, near Cakewalk Terrace, at about 2:25 a.m. when her car left the roadway and struck a tree, police said.

Prag was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital "for treatment of serious injuries," police said.

Her car was impounded for a safety check, and the investigation is continuing.

Detectives are asking anyone with information to call the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
