Police investigating fatal hit-and-run in Bay Shore

Police are investigating an apparent hit-and-run accident in Bay Shore after a 55-year-old man was found dead alongside the road on Spence Street.
A 911 call at 5:39 a.m. reported a man lying by the side of the road, police said. Officers responded and found the man, not far from the intersection with Fifth Avenue.
Police said the preliminary investigation indicates the man may have been struck and killed "by a large truck."
The man's identity has not been released.
