A Lake Grove man was seriously injured Tuesday afternoon when he crashed his Nissan into a utility pole in Lake Grove, authorities said.

Gregory Watson, 21, was driving southbound on Hawkins Avenue when he lost control and struck a pole near Terry Avenue just after 1:35 p.m., Suffolk County police said Wednesday in a news release.

The driver was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital, police said, and the vehicle was impounded for a safety check.

Police also said the investigation was continuing; no other vehicles were involved.

Fourth Precinct detectives ask anyone with information to call 631-854-8452.
