A man stopped for driving erratically in Bridgehampton early Wednesday was arrested and charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs after he tried to flee, then fought with an officer, police said.

Kevin Street, 46, of Bridgehampton, was charged with DWAI, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of marijuana, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration, harassment, second-degree and third-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and vehicle and traffic law violations, police said.

He is scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in Southampton Town Justice Court.

Southampton Town police said Street was stopped at Sag Harbor Turnpike and the Huntington Crossway after an officer saw him driving erratically at about 12:08 a.m.

After he was stopped, Street tried to run before being subdued a short distance away, police said.
