Police have identified the man killed on a scooter in a head-on crash Tuesday in East Shoreham as a Rocky Point man.

Nicholas Kennedy, 25, died at the scene of the crash on North Country Road, Suffolk County police said Wednesday.

The rider was heading east on North Country Road, then veered into the path of an oncoming, westbound Dodge Ram truck, police said.

The truck’s driver, Kenneth Staufer, 45, of Shoreham, was not injured and remained at the scene, police said.

No criminality was involved in the crash, which happened just before 2 p.m. near Valentine Road, police said.

The Dodge Ram and the scooter were impounded for safety checks and the investigation continues, police said.
