A bike-riding bandit didn't get very far after he robbed a gas station in Blue Point late Wednesday night, police said.

Paul Zigon, 57, of 111 Wicks Rd. in Commack, was located, arrested and charged with first-degree robbery "a short time" after the BP gas station on Montauk Highway, Suffolk County police said. A weapon was located in a wooded area after a search by a police dog named Havoc, police said.

Police did not identify the weapon recovered.

Police said Zigon entered the gas station just before 10:30 p.m., displayed "what appeared to be a handgun" and demanded the attendant hand over cash. The attendant complied, police said, and Zigon then fled the scene on a bicycle, heading south on Blue Point Avenue.

Zigon is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Central Islip.
