He gave him a ride home from a party. In return, police said, the guy pulled a handgun on him - then stole his wallet, his cell phone and his car. He crashed the car into two parked cars, then fled, police said.
Almost three weeks after the bizarre robbery in Huntington Station, Suffolk County police said they arrested Timothy Hardge, 23, of East Sixth Street, Huntington Station, charging him with first-degree robbery.
Nicholas Mittler offered to give Hardge a ride home from a party in Huntington Station on Aug. 28 at 6:30 a.m.
Somewhere on East Fifth Street, police said, Hardge pulled the gun on Mittler, forcing him out of the 2005 Hyundai, which he then stole. But police said Hardge crashed the car into two parked cars on McKay Road, near Columbia Street, and ran away.
Hardge was arrested at 5:08 p.m. Wednesday, police said.
He is scheduled for arraignment Thursday in First District Court in Central Islip.
