A man carrying a chef's knife robbed a Port Jefferson Station restaurant Sunday morning, grabbing cash from the patrons before fleeing, Suffolk police said.

No one was injured in the 7:30 a.m. robbery, which took place at the IHOP on Route 112.

Police said four people were eating at the restaurant when the man entered, wearing a bandanna over his face, and carrying a chef's knife.

The man demanded money from the patrons, robbing them of an undisclosed amount before leaving on foot. Police said the suspect did not attempt to rob the store's register.

The man was described as in his 20s, about 6 feet tall, weighing between 180 and 200 pounds, and wearing dark clothing.

Police ask anyone with more information about this case to contact the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 800-220-TIPS.
