A late-night fight between two groups of men in Huntington village resulted in a stabbing early Saturday, police said.

Several young people were walking from a bar to another establishment along Green Street at 2:45 a.m. when they began arguing, according to Det. Let. Thomas O'Heir of the Second Squad.

The argument, near the intersection with Main Street, escalated into a fistfight. A participant in the fight, identified as Michael Laffey, was stabbed and suffered a punctured lung.

Police said bar bouncers helped break up the fight and assisted officers in finding some of the people involved.

Christopher Scott, 22, of North Babylon, was arrested and charged with second-degree assault, a felony. Police said Laffey's wound was not life-threatening.

Laffey was arraigned Monday on a felony assault charge and held on $20,000 bond or $20,000 cash.
