A man was struck and killed by a payloader Thursday morning in the work yard at a commercial site in Ronkonkoma, Suffolk County police said.

Police did not disclose the victim’s identity Thursday, pending notification of relatives.

Police said the accident occurred at a commercial yard on South Second Street about 7:30 a.m.

The identity of the company was not released.

A woman answering the telephone at Rising Sons Maintenance, 880 S. Second St., said the 911 call was made by a person at her office, but the accident happened at another lot next door, and was not associated with her company.

The lot next door is listed as being operated by 7 Brothers Inc., a garbage hauling and transport company.

A call to the company early Thursday was answered by voicemail and a message seeking more information was not returned.

Police said Fifth Squad detectives and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating the cause of the accident.
