A North Babylon man was critically hurt in a two-car accident that injured three others Tuesday in Deer Park, Suffolk police said.

Police said Robert Jacoby, 63, was driving a 2003 Honda westbound on Long Island Avenue when his vehicle crossed over the double-yellow line east of Commack Road, crashing into an eastbound 2003 Nissan at about 5:45 p.m. Jacoby was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip in critical condition, police said. The extent of his injuries was unknown.

Three people in the Nissan -- driver Eric Ruiz, 21, of Brentwood, and two passengers -- were injured. Police said all were hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

An investigation into the cause of the crash is continuing. Police ask anyone with information about the accident to call First Squad detectives at 631-854-8152.
