A North Babylon woman who accidentally shot herself Friday was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, Suffolk County police said.

The incident in which she "accidentally discharged a gun" while alone in her Greenwood Drive home occurred around 11 a.m., police said.

She was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip.

First Squad detectives are investigating the shooting, which does not appear to be criminal, police said.
