Police: Pedestrian hit, seriously injured in Deer Park

A pedestrian was seriously injured after she was struck by a vehicle in Deer Park on Saturday night, Suffolk County police said.

The woman was on struck on Long Island Avenue about 8:10 p.m. The male driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene, police said.

The victim was transported in serious condition to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip, police said.

Detectives with Suffolk County's First Squad were investigating the accident Saturday night. They did not immediately identify the victim or driver.
