A pedestrian struck by a box truck Thursday night and pinned underneath it has died, Suffolk police said Friday.

The name of the man, 51, was withheld as police notified his next of kin, authorities said.

He was struck on Patchogue-Yaphank Road in Yaphank at about 8 p.m. and taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, police said.

The man had no pulse after being struck, police said, but was revived when emergency responders administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation. He was pronounced dead at the hospital, police said.
