Police probe fire in abandoned Brentwood home
The Suffolk County Police Arson Squad is investigating a fire early Saturday at an abandoned home in Brentwood that also damaged two nearby homes, fire officials said.
The Brentwood Fire Department received a call about 5:40 a.m. about fire at an abandoned home on Madison Avenue. Assistant Fire Chief William Peterson arrived to find a two-story home with fire on both floors, according to a fire department news release.
Firefighters were unable to enter the home because of a partial collapse of the roof and the second floor of the home.
About 50 firefighters from the Brentwood, Central Islip and East Brentwood fire departments responded. Also assisting were the Suffolk County Department of Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services, Town of Islip building department, fire marshal and public works, and Brentwood Legion Ambulance.
No injuries were reported.
