Police probe hit-run that killed Brentwood bicyclist

Suffolk police detectives are investigating a hit-and-run accident that killed a bicyclist Monday night in Brentwood.
Paz Espinal, 45, of Brentwood, was on a bicycle at 8:18 p.m., crossing Fifth Avenue just south of Dalton Road, when "he was struck by a white vehicle that was traveling southbound on Fifth Avenue," Suffolk police said in a Tuesday morning news release.
The car, possibly a Mitsubishi, fled, police said.
Espinal was pronounced dead at the scene.
