Police probe string of late-night burglaries

Suffolk County police are investigating a string of late-night burglaries during the past two months at homes in Lindenhurst, Deer Park, West Babylon and North Babylon.

The burglaries, police said, occurred most often while residents were sleeping. On a handful of occasions, residents awoke and one or more suspects fled. No residents have been hurt during the burglaries.

Police are urging residents in the affected communities to lock their doors, secure their windows and activate their alarm systems. Extra marked and unmarked patrol units have also been deployed to the area.
