Police pull Farmingville man from burning car
A Farmingville man was pulled from a burning car after a crash Wednesday morning on Route 25 in Coram, police said.
The crash occurred at 11:20 a.m. near Winfield Davis Drive, police said. A 1995 Toyota Camry driven by Cassandra Lehman, 21, of Farmingville, struck a small school bus that had no students on board, then crashed into a telephone pole, police said.
Lehman escaped with her daughter, 1, but Steven Scuderi, 19, who suffered a broken femur, was trapped, police said.
Police said the engine began to smoke, then the car caught fire. Responding officers Fred Mignone and Keith Boles used up two fire extinguishers on the blaze, but it continued to burn. The officers pulled Scuderi from the car.
Scuderi was treated at Stony Brook University Medical Center.
