Crime Stoppers and Fifth Squad detectives released photographs Wednesday of a suspect wanted for stealing items from a vehicle last month, including a credit card later used to make unauthorized purchases, Suffolk County police said.

Police said the suspect used a rock to smash a window on a 2003 Ford Escape parked in a lot of the Friendly's restaurant on Patchogue-Yaphank Road in Medford on June 23.

The suspect took a wristlet containing cash and the credit card from the vehicle, police said.

Later on the same day, the stolen card was used to make the unauthorized purchases at stores in Bellport and East Patchogue, police said.

The photographs of the suspect were taken from video surveillance cameras at the stores.

Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
