Montavious Jackson, 20, allegedly tried to sell stolen jewelry at a Copiague gold-buying store, and was then subdued with a Taser and arrested after he fought with a detective, Suffolk County police said.

A homeless man who allegedly tried to sell stolen jewelry at a Copiague gold-buying store was subdued with a Taser and arrested after he fought with a detective, Suffolk County police said Wednesday.

At about 12:50 p.m. Tuesday, Det. Pat Gillin of the property recovery unit was at Cash For Gold, 801 Montauk Hwy., when Montavious Jackson, 20, entered the store, police said. Jackson, who had previously sold jewelry at the store, tried to do it again, but Gillin confronted him and identified himself as a detective.

Police said a fight ensued, and Gillin was able to request backup. Patrol officers responded, and Jackson was subdued with a Taser stun gun.

Jackson, 20, is charged with five counts of burglary and resisting arrest, police said. Jackson also had two outstanding warrants issued by the New York Police Department for grand larceny and sex abuse, police said.

Jackson was transported to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip and was scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
