Police say two men charged in Suffolk burglaries
Two men are facing a number of burglary charges after police say they broke into several homes in East Patchogue, Medford, Bayport and Blue Point.
Suffolk County police arrested Anthony Gazzola, 21, of East Patchogue, and Ryan Rossi, 22, of Port Jefferson Saturday. Authorities say the men were in the midst of burglarizing a home on Bayview Avenue in Bayport when officers responded and arrested Rossi outside the home as he waited for Gazzola in a car.
Gazzola had climbed through the front window of a house and was attempting to steal jewelry, police said. They said when officers arrived, Gazzola fled but was later arrested by responding detectives.
Police say the men were involved in several other burglaries of homes in East Patchogue, Medford, Bayport and an earlier burglary Saturday morning in Blue Point.
Police said the first burglary occurred July 12 in East Patchogue.
Gazzola was charged with five counts of second-degree burglary, and one count of second-degree attempted burglary. Rossi was charged with two counts of second-degree burglary, and one count of second-degree attempted burglary.
