The gear was made from titanium -- and, police said, was worth more than $100,000.

Now, Suffolk County police are trying to figure out who stole the Goodrich aircraft landing gear from a Bay Shore company, Air Industries, sometime between May 30 and June 1.

They'd like your help.

The company is located at 1460 5th Avenue in Bay Shore.

Police said whoever broke in stole 14 forgings valued at between $3,000 and $9,000 each.

All of the pieces, whose finish resembles brushed aluminum, have serial numbers.

The pieces weight between 170 and 507 pounds each, police said. Police said the items may have been sold as scrap.

Police are asking anyone with information contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. Callers are eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
