Suffolk police said they are looking for an 86-year-old man who is deaf and has dementia.

Detectives said Saturday they are trying to find Victor Mangine, who was last seen Friday at 11:30 a.m. at the Lake Shore Adult Home.

The home, at 211 Lake Shore Rd., is not a locked facility and patients are allowed to come and go, police said. Mangine moved into the home about a week ago.

Mangine walks with a cane. He's white, 5-foot-4 and 160 pounds, with short gray hair. He has a mustache and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a tan button-down shirt and tan pants.

A recent photograph of Mangine was not immediately available.

Police said earlier this week, Mangine was found wandering around Windows on the Lake, a catering hall up the road from the adult home. He went into the hall's kitchen and said he wanted to cook, and also took keys from a car. The catering hall owner found him and returned him to the home about an hour after he had left, police said.

A woman who answered the phone Saturday night at the nursing home said, "I have no comments about anything" and hung up.
